SCAD Presents:
BAM! A Celebration of Black Artists in Music
I had the opportunity to be the production electrician for SCAD presents: BAM! A celebration of Black Artists in Music, an annual concert the school hosts celebrating Black History Month and the power of black voices.
I toured with the show to both of SCAD's campuses in Savannah and Atlanta which was a challenge considering the theater in Atlanta was about a third of the size of Savannah's. This involved a lot of planning ahead of time on what the most important aspects of our rig were and how we could transport our rig to a theater on the third floor of a building in downtown Atlanta. Our team had to adapt a lot once in venue and we had to reprogram a lot of the show due to the smaller rig we'd brought over.
In addition to my responsibilities as production electrician, I got the opportunity to learn from our student and professional designers. We were a very small team so I was able to work very closely with the designers and assisted in selecting fixtures, contributing to design ideas, and even got to program a few songs in Atlanta.
